Icicle Ridge - October 17, 2012

What we were hoping would be our last high country adventure before the snow arrived ended up our first after the snow arrived. It added a lot to the beauty to the day but slowed us down a bit as we had to do a little route finding where the trail was covered.

We enjoyed lunch in a pretty meadow on the ridge crest.

The end was in view but still a long way below. We didn't reach the trail head until after dark.

Watson & Uppe Anderson Lakes - October 10, 2012

Brilliant Fall colors were the highlight of this wonderful day. We took our time to savor what could be the last fair weather, warm, high country hike of this amazing late hiking season.

Ptarmigan Ridge - September 26, 2012

The snow had melted enough to make it all the way to the Portals. The smoke stayed far enough to the east and south to permit good local visibility. The temperature was perfect. It was a great twelve mile day.
