Clara & Marion Lakes - October 10, 2014

These tiny lakes near Mission Ridge are nothing exceptional in themselves. However, at this time of year the Western Larch transform them with stunning color. This is definitely the time of year to visit.

The crumbled remains of basalt columns is another interesting feature on this hike.

Blue Lake - October 1, 2014

This hike is special in Autumn when the Larch has turned.

Mohawk Lakes Colorado - September 26, 2014

This popular hike near Breckenridge was a fun outing with Bob, Eric, and Kyla. It was also high as we reached about 12,400 ft. in elevation. Other than a little heavy breathing I did just fine. It was a good sample of Colorado Alpine scenery.
The bogs on the way offered perfect reflections.

Kyla and I chat through the window of a "fixer upper" we passed along the way.

We had a delightful lunch spot at the lower lake.

Both Lakes were visible from the moraine above.

The fall colors were impressive lower down.

Devil's Head Colorado - September 24, 2014

It was good to get back on the trail with Bob. This was a short hike to test my acclimatization to altitude. It was a delightful walk through interesting rock formations.

Lots of steps to get to the lookout

After Devil's Head we took a short hike along the South Platte River in Cheeseman Canyon; one of Bob's favorite fishing holes.

Rockies Road Trip - September 2014

Kay and I recently completed a one way road trip to visit relatives in Colorado. We took a bit of a circuitous route to enjoy some of the natural treasures along the way. The following are a few photos of the highlights.
