Craters of The Moon National Monument - August 3, 2016

Our visit here was an unanticipated side trip on our way to Driggs. It was worth the stop. Although there are no craters the volcanic landscape is indeed other-worldly.

Our plan to circumvent the lower portion of the trail by approaching from primitive logging roads on Pole Ridge was not executed to perfection. However, it did turn into a most excellent adventure nonetheless.
