Dusty Lake Overlook - March 25, 2022

Spectacular views from the lip of a 10 thousand year old cataract which scoured out a coulee  through 10 million year old Lava flows were the highlight of this short hike.

Everyone was all smiles on this pleasantly warm day.

The labyrinth we found seemed eerily appropriate in this ancient landscape.

Lilly & Lizard Lakes - March 18, 2022

Brian and I enjoyed this six mile loop on Blanchard Mountain. It didn't rain on us although the forest was quite wet from recent rains and the deep green was striking.

Icicle Ridge - March 10, 2022

This hike is a traditional Spring "conditioning hike" I probably did it a bit early as there was still a considerable amount of icy snow on the trail at the start and on the last 1/4 mile from the top. I wore spikes on my boots and had no problems.

The weather was perfect and the views superb.

Lummi Mountain - March 3, 2022

Brian and I had the mountain to ourselves. Though it was still Winter we had great weather and there was a feel that Spring was just around the corner.

The views to the San Juan's were expansive.

The view to the Northwest included Clark, Barnes, Matia, and Sucia Island Marine State Parks. The Canadian Gulf Islands were in the distance. This brought memories of great adventures from years past.

Some low clouds colliding with the island made for some ethereal beauty.

Our lunch spot was perched on a cliff 1200 feet above Lummi Rocks, just off the Island's west side.
