Jones Island - September 11 & 12, 2018

Brian and I  decided a kayak camping trip to Jones Island would be a fun way to try out his new tent. And,indeed it was. However we had to cut it short after raccoons managed to steal all my food.

 Water conditions were close to perfect for the paddles to and from the Island.

 We had a stunning view from our campsite on the islands south side.

We hiked the four miles of trail circling the island.

The calm clear waters surrounding the island were a beautiful green.

Maple Pass Loop - August 29, 2018

The weather was a mixed bag with sunshine, clouds, showers and a breeze. The temperature was perfect and there was no smoke. This hike is always enjoyable and one of my favorites.

Enchantments Through-hike - August 24, 2018

It had been 21 years since I first hiked the Enchantments on a five day back-pack trip. I have been planning a return since we have had the Leavenworth place. I won an overnight permit last year only to have to give it up due to an injury. After failing to win a permit in this years lottery the girls and I decided we should try do do the whole thing in a day with a day use permit. We almost had to scratch this attempt as well because of smoke. But when the day finally arrived the smoke cleared and we set off. It was a grueling but magical day.
