Summer Paddle Fun - July 24 & 26, 2019

Kay and I paddled in a couple of our favorite places this week. Wednesday our good friend Kay joined us with her paddle board on Chuckanut Bay. Friday evening Kay and I enjoyed a magical time, paddling out of Bowman Bay north to Sares' Head and back.
I never tire of experiencing the Chuckanut Sandstone.

Lake Dorothy - July 8, 2019

This used to be a favorite hike in my early hiking years. But it has been 36 years since I was last here with Kay and our young girls. I can remember them having fun catching tad poles. Although this is a very popular, relatively short hike the damage to the lake shore was much less than I recall from decades ago.

The trail along the lake was rocky in places.

This picture is taken at the same spot where Kay and I camped on our first backpack together 45 years ago.

Glacier Bay National Park - May 22, 2019

It's hard to imagine this immense bay filled with glacial ice just a century ago. One can't but feel a sense of loss and a heightened alarm at what lies ahead with carbon induced climate change. Nevertheless this is an amazing wilderness that can't help but move you with it's beauty.
