Rockies Road Trip - September 2014

Kay and I recently completed a one way road trip to visit relatives in Colorado. We took a bit of a circuitous route to enjoy some of the natural treasures along the way. The following are a few photos of the highlights.

Excelsior/ High Divide - September 10, 2014

It was our first hike from the Damfino Lakes trail head since the the Canyon Creek road  reopened. It was good to be back on such a gorgeous day. 

Heliotrope Ridge - September 3, 2014

The impressive closeup views of the Coleman glacier are the highlight of this hike but the numerous stream crossings add to the adventure. Also impressive waterfalls help make this a uniquely memorable hike.

 Everyone was in the mood for a fun adventure.

Little Wenatchee Gorge - September 1, 2014

This short and somewhat obscure trail turned out to be a surprising gem. The trail stays close to the river as it tumbles through the deep Gorge. I Look forward to returning to watch the Spring run off. It should be dramatic.

 The water was crystal clear in shades of green and gold.
