This hike is a traditional Spring "conditioning hike" I probably did it a bit early as there was still a considerable amount of icy snow on the trail at the start and on the last 1/4 mile from the top. I wore spikes on my boots and had no problems.
Brian and I had the mountain to ourselves. Though it was still Winter we had great weather and there was a feel that Spring was just around the corner.
The Larson, Samuelson, Bedford, and Glade "almost annual" Leavenworth snow weekend resumed after a one year Covid hiatus. This years snow activity was a walk along the Icicle River. The weather was great and everyone had a great time as always.
Kay, Kathy, Michael and I started the year off with a snow shoe along Chiwaukum in the old Tumwater Campground. It was 13 degrees (F) but there was no breeze. It was a short but enchanting outing.
Kay and I had been wanting to hike here for some time. Emily and the boys joined us to work off some of the Holiday calories. We only hiked the Nahahum Trail to Crossroads. I'm anxious to come back in the Spring and do the loops.
