Grand Canyon, south rim - February 2012

Kay and I recently returned to the Grand Canyon for our 3rd visit. It can't really be described in photos or words. One can only be awestruck by its span in time and space.

Lanham Lake - February 8, 2012

It was snowing, sometimes heavily, most of the day. We had nice fresh stuff to walk through as we passed through stately groves of hemlock. Everyone enjoyed the quiet winter beauty.

Ettie was her usual exuberant self.

Kelcema Lake - February 2, 2012

Ten miles round trip, mostly on road, made it a long day. But the weather couldn't have been better.

Syline Lake and Ridge - January 11, 2012

The Ridge above Skyline Lake is a magical place that I never tire of going too. With varied weather and snow conditions it never is the same twice. The huge boulders evoke a feeling of mystery which made me think of neolithic stone circles or Easter Island.

It was chilly in the wind so we didn't stay long.

Huntoon Point - December 21, 2024

It was the shortest darkest day of the year but we were bathed in brilliant sunlight snowshoeing the most stunning scenery we know. We were all smiles. It couldn't have been better; a stunning preamble the Christmas holiday.
