Turtleback Mountain Reserve - May 31, 2018

I really enjoyed this return to Turtleback ten years after my first visit. The trail and signage has improved and the views were as spectacular as ever. We hiked it end to end this time which was enjoyable.

Nada Lake - May 28, 2018

This outing was intended to be a Spring "conditioning" hike for Emily and I, and indeed it was. I didn't expect dramatic views because when I last passed by here, 20 years ago I was not impressed; exhausted and "headed for the barn" after a few days in the spectacular scenery of the Enchantments. However this day we discovered Nada Lake was a worthy destination in it's own right in addition to being a good work out.

 Emily enjoyed inspecting the outlet dam. A number of fish were visible there and elsewhere in the lake and Snow Creek.

Icicle Gorge Trail - May 25, 2018

The Icicle River was a dramatic sight as it tumbled through the Gorge near the peak of spring runoff. Kay and I started the hike in the late afternoon which added a pleasant light and the wildflowers were a delightful plus.

Diablo Lake - May 23, 2018

Water was spilling from one of the gates on Diablo Dam; a sight we don't see very often. It provided a dramatic addition to the views of the river below and Pyramid Peak far above.

Washington Pass - May 16, 2018

This was the finale to the snowshoe season. The weather was perfect and the views stunning as usual.

 State Creek was full as it began it's journey to Lake Chelan.
