White River Snowshoe - February 20, 2026

This was our first snowshoe outing of the season. I hope there will be more. It has not been a good snow year. It felt so good to be out in the white stuff with good friends Michael and Kathy.

The white River road is plowed for about six miles up to Tall Timber camp. We put on the shoes and walked from there.

We were blessed with sunshine for a brief while. We were al in our happy place.

We found a pleasant lunch spot with a view.

Clayton Beach - February 5, 2026

It had been years since Kay and I walked to Clayton Beach. It was well before the trail was rerouted and the installation of the footbridge over the railroad tracks. It is now a much nicer hiking experience. It was a bluebird day with a low tide which allowed Kay and I to explore the  wonderful sandstone formations. It was magical.  We capped off a great day with a late lunch at the Chuckanut Manner Restaurant.

South of the beach were remnants of the four mile, overwater, section of the old interurban railroad abandoned almost a century ago.

We had the smaller north pocket beach to ourselves.
