Kay and I returned to this beautiful spot after an enjoyable breakfast at Kalaloch Lodge. It was the beginning of two days of delightful beach walks in the Olympic National Park.

Quinault Valley Rainforest - April 15, 2026

Kay and I dodged the showers to enjoy some explorations near Lake Quinault one day during our stay on the Peninsula.

The Quinault River at the point of the washout of the South Shore Road.

Moss everywhere

Exploring the Anton Kestner Homestead was the highlight of the day.

Settled in the late 1800s it is now owned by the National Park Service.

A nice trail wound through the Kestner property providing a close view of the rainforest eco-system

Lapush Area Beaches - April 14, 2026

It was raining very hard and the wind was driving it sideways. We chose to go out in it briefly. Kay and I believe we hadn't been to Rialto beach since the mid 1970s. in spite of the weather it was good to get back.
