Swauk Forest Discovery Trail - June 26, 2020

The family took a break from social distancing at our Leavenworth place for a week in late June. It was so nice. This was the first of a couple of hikes we took. We encountered no other hikers.

The "Thunder Clan", on the trail again.

Coffin Rocks/ Reservation Head - June 20, 2020

After conducting one of our kelp surveys, Bob and I did  a brief explore looking for sea stars. It always pleases us when we find some. This day we found 3 ochres and one blood star. (none pictured)

Chuckanut Bay - June 4, 2020

The magic and wonderment I experience kayaking has a lot to do with light and how it plays on water. When the water is flat calm, the sun is low on the horizon intensifying shadow and color, and there is blue sky above I'm enthralled. This night was one of those special nights.
Of course having Lynnelle along was the real highlight, putting me in a particularly wonderful space.

 Approaching Chuckanut Island

Of course the Chuckanut sandstone adds to the magic.

Lummi Island in the distance.

Wildcat Cove - June 1, 2020

The water was placid, and puffy cumulus clouds floated in a beautiful blue sky. It was a perfect afternoon on the water.
